Frequently Asked Questions
Q. Do you carry the doors in stock?
A. Due to the huge range of doors we offer, it would be both physically and financially impossible to hold all the doors in stock. We order from our suppliers/importers as requried.
Q. Can you deliver to me?
A. Yes we can! Please check our delivery charges for more details, or feel free to call one of our team on 01206 844444
Q. Do you deliver using your own vehicles?
A. We will always try to use our own vehicle to deliver, however, there may be occasions due to location etc that we will use a courier to deliver your new doors. If this is the case then you must unwrap and do a thorough inspection before you sign for the goods. If there is any damage then you can refuse the delivery and contact us as soon as possible. The delivery note must show that the delivery was damaged. If you fail to check the goods and then discover a problem then we cannot be held responsible as we cannot make a claim against the haulier.
Q. Do you have somewhere I can collect the doors from?
A. Yes we do! Just let us know you want to collect when we call you to let you know your order is ready!
Q. Do you have a printed brochure?
A. We don't do a printed brochure anymore for a couple of reasons: As we can show all of our products on line through our website we can avoid using paper to produce printed versions. We can also save on carbon emissions by not having to print or post the brochures. The second reason is that our past printed brochures have become out of date within weeks of printing as we are always adding new products. What we save in these costs we can then pass back to our customers in our prices!
Q. Can you supply door handles, hinges and locks?
A. Yes we can. Just click on the relevant categories from any page on our website!
Q. Do you have a showroom?
A. YES! You will be able to look at and feel a huge array of doors including a Full size Working display of our Oak VUFOLD folding French door set! You will find the full range of our kitchen cabinet replacement doors on display too, along with full size GARADOR garage door displays. In addition to the above you will be able to choose from our extensive range of door furniture.
Q. What door sizes do you offer?
A. We offer all the sizes we can. If our supplier/importer stocks it, we offer it. The easiest way to check what sizes we offer is to check out our website which is being frequently updated!
Q. How thick are your doors?
A. The standard thickness of our internal doors (imperial size) is 35 mm, 30 minute Fire Doors are 44 mm. Metric internal doors are normally 40 mm (30 minute Fire doors 44 mm). Knotty pine metric internal doors may be 35 mm thick. M&T external doors (and ALL triple glazed doors) are 44 mm thick and dowelled external doors may be 40 mm or 44 mm depending on the manufacturer. Many of the triple glazed doors are supplied with a raised moulding which is in addition to the door thickness.
Q. We have odd size doors. Other people in our area seem to have the same problem!
A. You probably have "Metric size" doors. Builders from the mid 70's onwards (especially on estates) often used metric sizes which included doors. If your doors are taller than standard (imperial) doors and often narrower, then you may be metric. We have a section within our site dedicated to Metric Sizes. If in doubt, please ring us and will will be glad to help and advise. 01206 844444
Q. Can you stain the doors for me, or advise me on the proper treatment?
A. Yes we can! Our trained staff can advise on the most suitable finish for your new door(s). We use, sell and recommend SADOLIN EXTRA for all external doors. WE DO NOT RECOMMEND THE USE OF OIL (TEAK, DANISH ETC) OR VARNISH OF ANY BRAND ON EXTERNAL DOORS! Please don't hesitate to contact us for more information. It is most important to fully treat all doors prior to final hanging.
Q. Are your doors made from solid timber or are they veneered?
A. Due to environmental awareness and in the interest of continued improvement, we reserve the right to include engineered components in some or all of the doors we offer! All of our internal doors will be of engineered construction using the finest quality real wood veneer over a solid core (unless otherwise stated)
Q. Can I fit an internal doors to the outside of my house?
A. NO. You must never fit an internal door outside or fit an external door inside. Due to the manufacturing process the doors are only suitable for the environment that they were made for! Different glues and moisture content etc. Any door not hung in the proper environment will not be covered by our warranty.
Q. Are your external doors fully weatherproof?
A. We would strongly advise that all of our external doors be protected by means of a porch or similar overhang! To protect your new door it is advisable to keep the door away from direct contact with rain. As previously mentioned ALL doors must be fully treated before they are installed to protect them from the elements, but a porch overhang or canopy is a must to ensure years of pleasure from your new door! We sell a range of porch canopies that may suit you.
